This week I have been reflecting on personal development. The very need of taking time out, spending time with people or doing things that stretch you. It is so very easy to stay in your comfort zone where things are not questioned but in turn are not improved.
This week I have been lucky enough to spend time with Dan O'Dea, whom some of you have met on his travels around the sites. He is someone whom I have worked with previously and someone who I admire greatly. It is not only his knowledge and insights that I gain a great deal from, but his warmth and genuine interest and care for people that truly inspires me.
I also sat in a room where we launched our 360 feedback programme for our leadership team. A team committed to being better for their teams and in turn for our customers. This will be invaluable information to guide us on engaging our teams in our learning and development plans for 2020. It reminded me of my very first 360 many years ago where I learnt one of my greatest lessons - taking time out for your people is the most important thing a leader can do.
And with that I am proud of our Wellness Program we have started to launch to our teams - it combines mental wellness eg Mental First Aide courses and Mindfulness workshops, nutrition eg recipes and nutritional advice and physical activity eg staff classes and seminars. I hope to see you in a class soon!
I've said it before and I will say it again - our staff (that's YOU) are our greatest asset.
